If you all believe so strongly in this, what are you going to do about it? Sitting around discussing all the big bad scary things out there, is not going to make them leave. Want a better world? Try to make one. Want kids/teens to know more about guns, go to the schools, set up workshops. Do something about it to inform them. Yes, a lot of teachers do not realize the social asepect of school, but in the end, it it every little influence on them that shaped kids. I am 17 and can honestly say the most dangerous gun I have ever shot would be a paintball gun. And I use to be seriously depressed, I tried to kill myself many times, do not ask me what stopped me, because I have no idea. I remember getting my bottle of anitdepressants from the drugstore, and the very first thing that I thought was "hmm, wonder how many?". I was a smart kid (not meaning to brag or anything), but I never thought of it like that, I would never ask questions just incase everyone else thought I was stupid, yet I still felt like I would never amount to anything. It had nothing to do with being seperated by the smart and not smart categories. It had to do with my life and what I have been through. Personally, I do not think people should be made to give up their guns, nor do I think that they shoul dbe outlawed. I do believe however that they should be registered, for the simple fact of gun safety. Next I do not believe that Columbine was the parents fault or lack of the kid understanding how guns work. He knew where it was, big deal, when I was 5 I knew where my uncles' hunting gun was and i went there like once a year. But I never touched it, because I knew. If any teenager brings a gun to school, it is because they know all too well what it will do. They are the ones who wanna do it, therefor they are going to. So the cabinet was not locked; please it is called a pocket knife or bobby pin. The teachers do not seperate the students because they want to, but have you ever asked a special needs student where they feel more comfortable? With everyone else, or with people they can relate too? Plain and simple, it has nothing to do with the education system, it has nothing to do with the parents. Everyone of us has a conscience, everyone of us has a mind, and a passion. It is just a matter of which one a person chooses to listen too. Also, if you are so against the registry and are so for bringing more education in about guns, why would you forget you wrote this article. Sure does not seem like it means a lot to you then.
